Richard Bollinger...
Born
in Delaware County, Richard Bollinger grew up in Lansdowne,
PA. He attended art school at the Hussian School of
Art in Philadelphia, and began his art career as a commercial
artist at a Philadelphia design company in 1969. After
freelancing for a few years illustrating children's
books, Bollinger took a job as an art director at a
small agency in Chester County. There, he experienced
his baptism by fire into the commercial world, and began
to develop his watercolor style. He took several of
his pieces to the Chadds Ford Gallery in the early 1970's.
When his first solo show in 1976 sold out, it provided
the springboard for him to switch from commercial arts
to fine arts. Bollinger began to devote his time and
talent to his painting.
Richard
Bollinger has an incredible gift for capturing the spirit
of early America - in a way that also captures people's
hearts and imaginations. Every detail is important to
the Painter of Rural America. Each element is uniquely
Bollinger's. Masterful stonework. Majestic skies. Mirrored
reflections. Compelling detail. All are his trademarks.
But there is more to his work...elements rarely seen
in other painters. Hopefulness. Peace. Serenity. These
are qualities Bollinger's special talent brings to every
painting, and later to every print.
Bollinger's
home and studio are located in West Chester, PA. Working
as both illustrator and designer, the artist has received
numerous awards for his graphics, which have appeared
in local as well as national publications. |
